Since her father died 13 years ago, Rosemarie Courbois has been on a nonstop mission to learn about her relatives -- dead or alive. "My mother died when I was 7, and my father never really talked about her family," says the 64-year-old Patchogue resident. A retired 911 operator, Courbois credited a co-worker's interest in genealogy with prompting her to delve into her own family's past -- a process that has included everything from surfing sites on the Web to traveling to Salt Lake City to peruse microfilm and microfiche at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Family History Library, a major repository of genealogical records.
