Peter Gaume was born in July, 1859 in Ohio.1 He was the son of Julian Gaume and Victorine Moser. He married Sarah C. Becker on May 4, 1878.2 He died about 1929.2

    Sara Gaume was born in South Bend, Indiana. Her maiden name was Becker. She came with her parents, to Kansas when she was 20 years old and lived near Centralia, Kansas.
    She was married to Peter Gaume, who recently preceded her in death on May 4, 1878. To this union were born eleven children, five of whom preceded them in death. The living children are: August and Lewis Gaume and Mrs. Lucy Cunningham, of Onaga; Frank Gaume of Hamilton, Missouri, John Gaume of Topeka; and Mrs. Mary Shannon of Wolcott, Wyoming.
    After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Gaume settled on a farm on French Creek. After a few years they moved to Centralia, then back to the farm, then to Onaga, where they resided until death. The funeral services were held at the Coal Creek Catholic Church on Monday morning and interment was in the Coal Creek cemetery.. Hereinafter cited as Obituaries on-line.
