Catherine Blanchat was born about 1862 in Blackcreek, Ohio.1 She was the daughter of Lawrence Blanchard and Marguerite Duplain. She married Frank Bakule.

Catherine Blanchat was also known as Katie Bakule. After Frank Gaume died, Katie Bakule signed, in 1918, an affidavit supporting Justine Blanchat's widow's pension claim. She lived in Kansas at the time.3
