Bernard James Campbell Sr. was born about 1801 in Killough, Down, Ireland.1 He married Elenora Keenan about 1835 in Ireland. He died on August 13, 1860 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Bernard James Campbell Sr. emigrated with Elenora Keenan on November 1, 1849 from Ireland.2 He and Eleanor Campbell appeared on the census of 1850 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, - listed in the same household: Patrick Bannon, Bernard James Campbell Jr., Margaret Campbell, William J. Campbell, Rosy Campbell, Eleanor Bannon and Richard Bannon.3 He appeared in a group photo with others about 1855 in Cincinnati, Ohio. See exhibit.
