Solomon Dobbs was born in 1810 in Georgia.1 He was the son of Peter Dobbs and Lavinia. He married Frances Carson on March 25, 1830 in Franklin County, Georgia.2 He died before 1889 in Atlanta, Georgia.3

In the 1860 census for district 16, Cass Co., Georgia there appear seven Dobbs households in which all individuals are listed by first initial and last name only. Therefore it is difficult to tell exactly who the individuals are and how they may be related. The following is a list of head-of-households, their estimated year of birth and the page number upon which they appear in the Cass Co., Georgia 1860 census: S. Dobbs (abt. 1822) Dist. 16, pg. 704. M. Dobbs (abt. 1789) Dist. 16, pg 705. C. Dobbs (abt. 1834) Dist. 16, pg 706. J. Dobbs (abt. 1825) Dist 16, pg 725. L. Dobbs (abt. 1802) Dist. 4, pg 732. D. Dobbs (abt. 1838) Dist. 4, pg 734. W. Dobbs (abt. 1834) Dist. 4, pg 734. He may have some relationship or connection with Reuben R. Dobbs of Murray County, Georgia.
"It is more than likely that there were two Solomon Dobbs. There is one in Cobb Co., Georgia in 1840 and another in Murray Co., Georgia in 1840. But the Solomon who married Laura Cowen was almost certainly the son of Jesse Dobbs, oldest son of Lodowick and Sarah Dobbs of Pendleton Dist., SC. Cowen family researchers say that Solomon was born in Pendleton Dist., SC and that seems to fit. Also we know that Solomon, son of Jesse, was living in Hall Co., Georgia when his son, Guilford was born. Then in the late 1830's Jesse moved to Cobb County and it is most likely Solomon moved to Cobb at the same time before moving a little later to Cherokee Co., AL. There seems to me to be no clue that Lott had a son named Solomon. The Solomon who married Frances Carson in Franklin Co., Georgia was in Cass Co., Georgia in 1850 and living next door to his father, Peter Dobbs, brother of Lott. This also appears to me to be the Solomon who was in Murray Co., GA in the 1840 census showing two male children, ages 5-10, and 3 female children under 5. So I believe we have set the record straight in identifying two Solomon Dobbs, one the son of Lodowick, and one the son of Peter."4
