David Washington Dobbs was born on October 6, 1835 in Franklin County, Georgia.1 He was the son of Burrell Dobbs and Margaret Armstrong. He married Cynthia Ann McCutcheon on September 16, 1855 in Georgia.1 He died on December 18, 1909 in Cobb County, Georgia, at age 74.2

From 1861 to 1865, David Washington Dobbs served in 3rd Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.3 From 1861 to 1865, David Washington Dobbs served in 14th Regiment, Georgia Infantry.3
