Fortune Dobbs was born (est.) 1730. He married Mary C. Adams.

Fortune Dobbs was also known as Fortunatus Dobbs. Multiple references to Fortune (Fortunatus) Dobbs appear on the web indicating that he was born 1727 in Carrickfurgus, Ireland and that he was related to the Dobbs family of Dobbs Castle (i.e. Arthur Dobbs, colonial governor of North Carolina); however in no case are any sources provided to support this.1 He filed claims with the government growing out of the American Revolution. about 1776.2 The following individual(s) have been indentified as possible off-spring of Fortune Dobbs: Josiah Dobbs, Silas Dobbs, Lott Dobbs, Peter Dobbs and Lodowick Dobbs. He and Nathaniel Dobbs may have been related.
