Johann Georg Ringwald was born on May 10, 1796 in Emmendingen, Grand Duchy of Baden. He was baptized in May, 1796. He was the son of Johann Nepomuk Ringswald and Magdalena Appert. He married Maria Theresia (Teresa) Ganter on January 10, 1826 in Sasbach am Rhein, Grand Duchy of Baden. He died on January 7, 1874 in Madison, Indiana, at age 77. He was buried in China Cemetery, Madison County, Indiana.

He and Joseph Ringwald emigrated in 1844 from Grand Duchy of Baden.1
