He married Martha Ann Woodon on December 5, 1872 in Cherokee County, Georgia.2 He died on January 28, 1911 in Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia, at age 68.3 He was buried in Marietta City Cemetery, Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia.3

John Perry Dobbs was also known as John P. Dobbs. From 1861 to 1865, John Perry Dobbs served in Phillips' Legion, Georgia.4
