From her obituary in an unnamed area newspaper (The Journal), April 12, 1900: "Mrs. Franci(e)s Dobbs Dead.- A Remarkable Woman and One of the Oldest Citizens of Bartow County - (Special Dispatch to the Journal) CARTERVILLE, Ga., April 12 -- A most remarkable woman, Mrs. Frances Dobbs, was laid to rest yesterday in the cemetery. She was born in July 1806, and had she lived until next July she would have been 95 years old. She has outlived all of her family and even all of her children. Her mind has been perfectly clear up to last Saturday, and she could talk intelligently of events happening in the early years of the century. Her death occurred Monday night, the result of a wearing out of her life. She is survived by John H. Dobbs, Mrs. T.A. Haney, John A., W.G., J.M. and C.C. Dobbs, Mrs. Todd and Miss Anna Dobbs, her grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was born in Elbert County and has been a member of the Baptist Church since 1854. She was the widow of Asa Dobbs, who moved to Bartow County 60 years ago and lived here 20 years [actually about 14] before his death."
