Asa A. Dobbs was born on August 21, 1833 in Georgia.1 He was the son of Josiah Dobbs and Elizabeth Prothro.

He enlisted as a Private on 01 May 1861 in Company G, 18th Infantry Regiment Georgia and was wounded on 02 June 1864 at Cold Harbor, VA. He was marked absent, without leave on 15 August 1864.2 From 1861 to 1865, Asa A. Dobbs served in 18th Regiment, Georgia Infantry.3 He filed a Confederate Pension Application in January, 1900 in Bartow County, Georgia.1
