Annie Von Schele Hahr was born on March 4, 1870 in Warrenton, Warren County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Franz Josef Carl Johan Hahr and Alice Mulvinal Hartman. She married Herbert Clifton Dobbs, son of David Judson Dobbs and Martha Josephine Prothro, on December 22, 1890 in Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia. She died on September 15, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia, at age 91.

She and Emma Charlotte Hahr, Margaret Hulda Hahr and Selma Hahr were siblings.1 She was a niece of Professor W.W. Legare.1 Was called Nannie by all of her grandchildren. She attended public schools and Harwood Seminary in Marietta, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, GA. Was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Colonies and the Colonial Wars, and several other patriotic organizations in Atlanta.2
