Mary Prothro was born in 1801 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Prothro and Zilphia Morgan. She married Jesse Dobbs, son of Josiah Dobbs and Luzanna, on August 31, 1824 in Elbert County, Georgia.1 She died after 1860.2

She was named an heir in the will of Nathaniel Prothro dated 1823 in Elberton, Elbert County, Georgia.
