Charles Louis Gaume was born on April 12, 1853 in Louisville, Stark County, Ohio. He was the son of Louis Jeanin-Gaume and Josephine Faiver. He was baptized on April 19, 1853 in St. Louis Church, Louisville, Stark County, Ohio.1 He married Otillie Rouhier about 1875 in Mansfield, Ohio. He died on February 23, 1911 in Globe, Arizona, at age 57.

Charles Gaume Obituary: (Note: This appears to be the obituary for Charles Louis although he died February 23, 1911 in Globe, AZ per his death record.) "Charles Gaume died last week at his home in Pasadena, Calif., aged sixty-five years. Mr. Gaume was born and raised in Louisville and left for the West about thirty-five years ago. About fifteen years ago Mr.Gaume paid a visit to the scenes of his youth and visited his old friends. Mrs. Gaume and four children are living. (LGW note: Matilda was long dead at this time and Charles never remarried although his four children were alive at this writing.) Mrs. Eusebe Lamielle and Mrs. James McDonald, of Louisville, were sisters of Mr. Gaume. Funeral services were held at Pasadena, Sunday." [Source: Louisville Herald, March 9, 1911]
